December 2006 Newsletter

·                    28 members attended the meeting held on 12-05-06 in our new location.

·                    The treasurers’ report for November was read, voted on and accepted.

·                    Larry spoke about the exciting things that are shaping up for car aficionados. The November meeting at Barbagello’s had an Assemblyman from the Syracuse area talk about special NYS license plate ideas, kit car registrations, etc for the car loving community.  The meeting at Barbagello’s is held at 7 PM on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except for Dec). If you would like to go, meet at 6pm at Dick Bronson’s house.

·                    Club President Larry Natarelli gave his farewell speech and talked about what transpired this summer, saying “it was rocky to say the least”. Larry spoke about negative statements being made by club members in public, and that “we, as a club, need to curb the negativity. There is talk of another car club starting up in Rome, so we have to start running a better house, and do away with the heartburn and the attitudes”. Larry stated that we need to reexamine ourselves and bring up what is bothering you- at the meetings, not in the street; “If there is another club coming up we need to get our act together”. Larry went on to say that he was staunch supporter of Michelle and is sorry for what she had to endure; he further stated that the club did not give her a fair shake.

·                    Larry’s farewell statement opened the floor to discussion from the members. Some stated that we need to get things under control and keep our business in house. Others added that we need to do all our complaining and moaning at the meeting and not out in the community.

·                    There was a discussion on the nonprofit status of the club and why are we buying stamps.

·                    To help cut the cost of mailing our newsletter, if you would like to receive the newsletter in cybertronic format, please email Marie at MGauci@twcny.rr.com. Please keep in mind that this is only an option, and that we are not doing away with our hard copy. We will continue to mail you a hard copy if this is your preference.

·                    The Shadow attended this meeting in person! He was asked if he is being paid for the web sit work; he stated that his dues coverage is barter for his work. The domain name will be coming up for renewal. The monthly fee to pay the Internet Provider for the website is $11.

·                    Start sending photos of your cars so we can update the web page to:  www.Tappettwirlers.org  or mail them in to the club address: TAPPET TWIRLERS AUTO MOBILE CLUB OF ROME, NY

P.O. BOX 808, ROME, NEW YORK 13442

·                    We are requesting show veterans to send in show tips for our newsletter. Call Marie (339-1711).

·                    There was no 50/50 for this meeting.

·                    8:00 pm meeting adjourned.

·                    The Christmas party at The Beeches was definitely a good time had by all. If you weren’t there, you have no idea what you missed, but I’ll try to help you out here- the food was fabulous, the music was move’ in, and the ladies were lovely! Our club photographer, Dennis Berry, will have some great shots to share...I will try and incorporate them into next month’s newsletter.

Holiday Safety Tips from Maximillion

This holiday season, millions of people will be taking their “best friend” on the road with them. Traveling with pets is easier when you have the right pet supplies and accessories for your auto. Make the journey fun for both you and your pet by following a few simple tips:

·                    Never leave your pet unattended in your vehicle.

·                    Buckle up- both of you. Depending on the size of your pet, choose an appropriate safety restraint. Some examples are shown below:

·                    Stop frequently so you and your pet can stretch your legs.

·                    Both of you need to keep hydrated; keep bottled water and a soft-sided drinking bowl in your vehicle.

·                    To help prevent car sickness, do not feed your pet within two hours of departure.

·                    Nothing takes the place of good, common sense; remembering to take yours along on the trip will ensure a great ride.

If you are on the road this holiday season, be safe and have a wonderful holiday!

Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 2nd at 7:00 pm at Lake Delta Fire House on Elmer Hill Road.

Please park behind the building.**
