January  2008

*Please notice the change in meeting place noted above*
Due to medical / health reasons Herbie’s has closed so we are returning to the Lake Delta Fire Dept for our meetings.

The monthly started at 7:oo p.m, 2 Herbies Restaurant.

The first order of business was: a guest speaker from Right Coast, Mike Szaras, explaining club involvements with Syracuse nationals, He brought in a Right Coast publication, for all to review, there will be a section set a side for items to sell in the back of the magazine. For those who care to place an ad for free. Mike is also Writing a whole article about the Tappet Twirlers automobile club with pictures and a whole right up of our club, a sample draft was passed for all to view, Very impressive, a lot of thought and energy is being put into this article, great exposure for our club. If Mike needs help with facts and pictures, Lets supply him with all the information needed.

The next order of business was another guest speaker;

Kurt Stewart;

Kurt is a food vendor who presented the club with information, to host our Friday night cruise ins, The name of the business is Jamies Place named for his daughter, Kurt supplied us with a menu for all to review, He agreed to work with the club, to our usual standards. By the next meeting in February: Kurt will supply us with a commitment letter: At which time, the club will vote for an acceptance.

Elliot Pollock made presentation of a poster board, That he had made up of several different club cars at different events, in a collage,
Very impressive  work, a great  way to display what we do at different events.  We can certainly utilize such a tool for many things
With Elliot’s talents; we need to work close with him for a lot of our printing needs.

Along with that thought: Elliot, Shadow, and forgive me for forgetting who else is involved, will be getting the proper layout and design
for forth coming jackets. Once that is achieved, the process will begin for the embroidery on those jackets.

The next order of business; The treasure report from Miles Thomson;
The report was read and accepted for credits/debits.
Miles did make a point, That any checks in circulation be processed as soon as possible.

The next discussion was that of the condition of the tents, a motion was made /second to make any necessary repairs at Brownies in Clinton

Next on the list: Was discussion of the club By-Laws.

Bob Benzing made several copies of the Bi Laws for the club's viewing;
Prior to the meeting the board members sat down and reviewed the document;
Upon  review all agreed to the contents;
Only minor changes were made; Primarily verbiage; He/She----We They; only to make it politically correct for today’s society.
As to not discriminate He/She. As when the club first adopted Bi laws it was pretty much a man thing!!
Now there's much more involvement; with the ladies.

The next order of business was the discussion of where our annual August show will be held:
As most everyone knows a group of members approached  the Town of Lee: Inquiring there thoughts of us using the Town park as a location for our annual show.
The presentation was well accepted by the Town board to host our event. With proper provisions from the club, insurance etc.
This matter was tabled at our prior meeting for further discussion, following the meeting with the Town Board.
This meeting: The matter was presented and voted on to move our event to the Town Park.
The space the accommodations, the parking, complete use of the park was the clubs for the using.
It was very apparent that this was a good idea, We could double the size of the amount of attendance, for those we had to unfortunately
turn away from our previous show.
With that being said:
Three of our board members were approached to meet with Ted Pusher CEO with Rite Aid distribution here in Rome.
Because of the short time frame Ted gave the three attending board members, they had a meeting to discuss the possibility of Rite Aid
as major contributor for our event.
Our three board members presented the club with a host of information as to what Rite Aide's intentions are.
The package presented to the club was "Simply unbelievable", They want ;To do all the advertising, Food vendors Radio, Live music, posters, mailers,
Road signs, Goody bags the Trophies, cash prize's for top cars. And to raise money for there major charity Children’s  Miracle Network.
The list goes on. It's absolutely an unbelievable undertaking.
Being the Town Park was the first thought, of moving our annual show, and then this to top it off was "Simply amazing!
And to make it perfectly clear, we were approached by them!
Our understanding is that " Ted Pusher is very big into cars" and would like to see an event close to home with "Huge magnitude "
The club had  a long discussion; It was without saying a unanimous decision to pursue this.
The members involved our continuing to gather information.
This is something that is going to be fast paced, there may have to be emergency Board to meetings, to coordinate with Rite Aide,
It's going to take a lot of cooperation, From all of us Further details will be forwarded as necessary!
We will do our best to communicate through e -mails or hopefully we can keep Shadow involved on the web site.
Like was stated Rite Aide is moving this at a fast pace to get everything coordinated.
It is in our best interest to run with them! There will be more to come!

That was pretty much the discussion for this months meeting,
A lot of attention, was directed towards our annual show.
Once all our ducks are in a row there, which won't take long at the pace they are moving.
We can then be prepared to move on with our Friday night cruise ins
The obvious: sponsors, radio, committee's, all the things we did last year to be as successful.
Be prepared for further discussion at the next meeting.

Turning our attention to the Central N.Y. association:

Several members attended the meeting in Syracuse  Jan 15th
Bob Benzing, Dick Bronson, Miles Thompson, Larry Nattarelli, Rick Aiello, Mike Szaras, Lenny Johnson, and Jimmy Rasmussen.
Primary discussion was that of Mike Szaras representing the Right Coast association for the Nationals, some of the format has changed for the show, none of which is a big issue, one request was made for any participant with a car they wish to bring to the show that is 1980 or newer will be that of a staff member working the show, or one of the association club members, these cars must either park on the pavement near what is the midway, or be assigned to the Cargill bldg. Efforts will be made to get appropriate windshield stickers for those entering the Cargill bldg.

They will be looking for the people that signed up on last years list to work some part of the show.
What they want is actual counts for those claiming to work the show.
They issue free passes for those doing this job.
As in the past; A list of those planning on using the Cargill  building will need to sign up.
We have had up to 28 cars on the list. No mention as of yet has added or subtracted from this list.
The only concern is that if you do sign "Please utilize that space"
In the past 28 sign up, 12 show up.
Only asking to be fair to others that may not have had the opportunity to use the Building.

There is another show coming to the Syracuse Fair grounds:
That would be the International Show case of cars. held the first weekend in April, Fri, Sat, Sunday
The fee is $30 In the past a few members have attended.
What they are looking for this year is different cars that don't come year after year, If any one is interested in participating, you can go
on line thru our web site to CNY association. to find applications, etc.

The Central New York meeting boasted our new Location for our August show,
Proper location, dates, and time were provided to the group.
Many of the clubs will be providing us with mailing lists of there shows, so that we can forward them to Rite Aide to send out announcing
our event. To be perfectly honest many of the clubs there were coming to out table asking for directions, times etc.
 We explained our picture to them, prizes trophies, a lot of Buzz was in the air.
There was immediate response to show!

That pretty much concluded the Syracuse meeting.

Back to the home front:

I have received no mail regarding anyone's health or pertaining issue's .

If there is any of our members or family of. With any health issues, We as a club, wish all the best!!!

I was going to forward Marie's address; but thru error I misplaced it.  I understand that she is able to receive E-Mail from her normal address.
She is still in a dangerous location.

We need to keep her in our thoughts and prayers.
